Bayern Munich vs Manchester United live highlights and reaction as Casemiro scores twice

Manchester United will begin their Champions League campaign with a visit to Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

The Champions League draw was made last month and United will meet Bayern, Galatasaray and F.C Copenhagen in the group stage of the competition, which means the Reds are expected to reach the knockout rounds.

United last played in the Champions League in 2021/22 and they won their group that season after playing Villarreal, Atalanta and Young Boys before being eliminated by Atletico Madrid in the last 16.

Bayern Munich are steeped in European history and they last met United, then managed by David Moyes, in 2013/14 in the Champions League quarter-finals. The German side were the defending champions that season and won 4-2 on aggregate.

Erik ten Hag's side have struggled across their opening matches of the new season and head into this match having lost their last two matches.

In terms of team news, Facundo Pellistri gets a surprise start as Scott McTominay drops to the bench. Raphael Varane and Mason Mount returned to training but haven't made the trip, while Harry Maguire has also been ruled out.

Andre Onana

His first howler in United colours wrecked a positive start. Has now let in 14 goals in six games for United. Kept the scoreline down with some saves in the second half. 4

Diogo Dalot

Pumped up during the warm-up, he was easily outpaced by Jamal Musiala for Bayern's second goal. Did nothing in attack. 5

Victor Lindelof

Started by default as Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire were absent. He was never going to tame Harry Kane. 4
