Bayern Munich 'unlikely' to sign Joao Cancelo permanently and more Man City transfer rumours

Bayern Munich are reportedly 'unlikely' to exercise their option to make Joao Cancelo's loan move from Manchester City permanent in the summer transfer window.

According to Calciomercato, the Portuguese ace - who left the Etihad in January to sign for the Bundesliga outfit on a six-month loan deal - is unlikely to make the permanent switch to Germany, with Bayern not expected to trigger their £62m clause to officially sign Cancelo.

The report adds that Chelsea and Real Madrid are the two most likely options for the 28-year-old if he does leave City this summer, while he could also remain part of Pep Guardiola's squad. The defender made a promising start to his Bayern career - grabbing two assists in his first two games - but he has since fallen down the pecking order.

It is also claimed that Julian Nagelsmann sees Cancelo as a 'typical' full-back and as such not as suited to the current team, which has reportedly left Cancelo, who left City in search of more regular first-team football, 'frustrated' with his situation. Since signing for the Blues from Juventus in 2019, the right-back has won two Premier League title and two EFL Cups.

Elsewhere, Footmercato have reported that Real Madrid head of recruitment Juni Calafat held a meeting with Jude Bellingham's father on Tuesday, with the Borussia Dortmund and England midfielder continuing to be linked with a move to the Blues at the end of the season.
