Bayern Munich's true feelings clear amid Leroy Sane Man United transfer links

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl insists contract negotiations remain ongoing with Manchester United linked winger Leroy Sane.

This week, Sane was named as one of the wingers United could be looking at to strengthen their attack in January. Currently, the German's contract is due to expire in 2025, and should he not sign an extension before the start of next year, the Reds or other clubs based outside of Germany would be free to negotiate with him about a future free transfer.

Sane has slipped down the pecking order at Bayern under new head coach Vincent Kompany, which has led many to wonder whether a new deal is realistic. United, meanwhile, could be looking to add a winger to their squad soon, with Antony reportedly catching the eye of Eddie Howe's Newcastle.

The Brazilian has been out of favour with Erik ten Hag so far this season and could be approached by the North East club in January. As for Bayern, they appear to have not given up on convincing Sane to re-sign with the club.

Explaining their stance via Goal, Eberl said: "Now it's important that Leroy feels comfortable again and can show what he can do on the pitch again. We are in open communication with his agent and as soon as there is a decision, we will announce it."

Sane underwent groin surgery in the summer and has been looking to regain his fitness since then. But considering how well he performed for Manchester City in the Premier League, there is little wonder that United may consider him to be a good target.
