Bayern Munich 3-0 Union Berlin: Eric Choupo-Moting, Kingsley Coman and Jamal Musiala put Bavarians back top

Bayern Munich reclaimed top spot in the Bundesliga with a 3-0 win over title rivals Union Berlin. Kingsley Coman was heavily involved in the first half when he provided a floated cross for Eric Choupo-Moting to head home, before he rounded Frederik Ronnow and slotted the ball into an empty net to double Bayern’s lead.

Ad Jamal Musiala — who celebrated his 20th birthday with the win — got in on the first-half action when he converted Thomas Muller’s cross after making a clever run at the near post on the stroke of half-time. Bayern dominated the opening exchanges and stamped their authority on the game when Choupo-Moting rose highest to meet Coman's cross and head the hosts in front. Then shortly after came Coman's cool finish after outwitting Ronnow.

Bayern had a deserved third when Musiala met Muller's cross and fired the ball past Ronnow to cap off an assertive first-half display. Alphonso Davies nearly made it four just minutes into the second period when his close-range shot was stopped well by Ronnow, but Union did well for the remainder of the match to keep the deficit down to three.

Julian Nagelsmann was boosted by the return of Sadio Mane, who came on as a second-half substitute following surgery on a leg injury three months ago. The win means Bayern go back above Borussia Dortmund, who beat Hoffenheim 1-0 on Saturday, while Union Berlin remain third, three points behind Dortmund and Bayern.
