Bayern avoid massive flop, rivals run wild

Two goals from Bundesliga top scorer Robert Lewandowski has saved Bayern Munich from a gigantic flop as the league leaders came back to beat bottom of the table Greuther Furth 4-1.

Bayern are six points clear at the top with second-placed Borussia Dortmund recording a stunning 6-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.

There was also a goal festival in Berlin, where RB Leipzig defeated hosts Hertha 6-1.

Furth surprisingly broke the deadlock after their top scorer Branimir Hrgota's free-kick deflected in off Bayern midfielder Marcel Sabitzer shortly before the break.

But the hosts kept cool and didn't waste time respoding at the Allianz Arena, scoring in the first minute of second half.

Serge Gnabry stopped the ball from going out and Robert Lewandowski equalised from close range.

Bayern's further pressure paid off when a low cross from Thomas Muller deflected off Sebastian Griesbeck and into the goal.

Lewandowski headed home an assist from Niklas Sule to complete his brace and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting added a late fourth.

"We're definitely not happy with the first half. We needed a lot of time to get into the game. What we played in the second half was much, much better, we played our football," Lewandowski told DAZN.

Dortmund suffered a major 4-2 defeat to Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday, but bounced back to beat Gladbach with a brace and three assists from captain Marco Reus.

"We had to show a reaction. We pressed a lot, showed a lot of energy. We must try to play every game like this one," the midfielder said.

Reus broke the deadlock in the 26th minute shortly after Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel pulled out a great save to deny Gladbach the opener.
