Barry Ferguson asks where Rangers favours are coming from as Celtic give Philippe Clement title reality check

Concerned Barry Ferguson likes what he’s seen from Philippe Clement and Rangers so far, but is asking where the favours they need will come from with Celtic motoring.

The new Belgian boss made the perfect start to his Ibrox tenure, blowing Hibs away 4-0 to send the punters home happy following a miserable end to Michael Beale’s time in Govan. Clement seems to be getting a tune out of his predecessors' big money flops already and the initial signs are encouraging.

But less than 24 hours later, Celtic produced arguably their best performance of the season so far, swatting Hearts aside with a 4-1 victory at Tynecastle. Ferguson sat down to watch hoping the Jambos could inject further life into a title race that was threatening to get away from the Gers, but it became apparent early on that Brendan Rodgers’ side weren’t going to be stopped.

With three Old Firm clashes still to play, Clement has the opportunity to reduce the gap. But it can't really get any bigger, and Ferguson has his doubts over the other ten clubs’ ability to throw any roadblocks in the Hoops’ path.

“It’s a hard place to go, Tynecastle,” he told GO Radio. “But if I’m being honest after ten minutes, I knew there was absolutely no chance that Hearts were going to get back into it. So where are the favours going to come from?

“They’re motoring just now. You can see each game that they’re going up a notch.

“But all Rangers can do is forget about what Celtic are doing. They need to really concentrate on number one and that’s themselves.”

What Rangers are doing, seems to be better than what they were doing. Ferguson added: “You could see it on Saturday. When they gave the ball away, they weren’t feeling sorry for themselves, they were working hard to get it
