Barcelona leading race for Frank Kessie and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Manchester United are reportedly lagging behind in the race to sign AC Milan Franck Kessie, with Barcelona said to be leading the chase.

Kessie is out of contract at the San Siro this summer, and has been linked to a number of clubs throughout Europe, including United.

The Reds are set to make midfield a priority during the summer transfer window, having struggled in that department this season.

And Kessie is just one of the names that has been touted as a potential addition – although United could have work to do if they want to secure the Ivory Coast international’s services.

According to Marca, Barcelona have been following the midfielder’s progress ‘for a long time’ and have now put themselves in ‘pole position’ to sign him this summer.

The report though also adds that Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland remains the Catalan giants’ number one target this summer, which may have an impact on their efforts.

Kessie was reported to have agreed a deal to join Tottenham in January, although a move never materialised.

Elsewhere, Paul Pogba will reportedly have to take a pay cut this summer in order to secure a move away from United.

The midfielder looks increasingly likely to be on his way out of Old Trafford for a second time, with his contract set to expire in the summer.
