Barcelona Chief Executive Resigns After Disagreement Over January Signing

The Spain forward returned to La Liga in a £46 million switch from Manchester City and gives the Catalan outfit another option in attack.

In a statement, Reverter said he was leaving due to "personal and family projects".

He said: "These have been passionate months and I thank the president for his trust and, above all, his enthusiasm and capacity for leadership that mean FC Barcelona how has a first class executive team that is able to reposition Barça as a world leader. Personally I have put in much effort and dedication during these months, but I now wish to focus on the reason why I returned to Barcelona, which is to spend more time on personal and family projects.”

It's said that Reverter had a very different vision to president Joan Laporta, who was keen on securing the services of Torres.

Reverter was not an advocate of the signing and he and Laporta are believed to have fallen out.

Reverter had joined Barcelona in July and was tasked with improving Barcelona's financial situation after mismanagement led to them ending up €1.35 billion in debt.

His departure comes as Barcelona have reportedly agreed a €280 million three-year deal with Spotify.

The music streaming giant's logo will be on the club's kits, while the stadium will be known as the Spotify Nou Camp is to be renamed.
