Bank Holiday live updates for M4, A55, A470 and other major roads

Queues have started to build on major roads across Wales as drivers make journeys home after the long Easter weekend. The RAC estimated over 27 million journeys would be made over the four day holiday in what was expected to be the busiest weekend on the roads in years.

There are also warnings that passengers at airports and train stations will be left waiting for hours in long queues. Engineering work, as well as staff shortages, affected the trains last week as Network Rail carried out 530 engineering projects costing a total of £83 million over the weekend.

These include the closure of the West Coast Main Line between London Euston and Milton Keynes for four days from Good Friday due to upgrades of the existing line and HS2 work. Airports also felt the pitch of staff shortages with dozens of British Airways and easyJet flights were cancelled over the weekend.
