Bangor City FC listed for sale for eye-watering price as clock ticks on league expulsion

Bangor City FC has been listed for sale on a business website and the apparent asking price is an eye-watering £1.25 million.

The Gwynedd club is currently suspended from all football activity since November by the Football Association of Wales (FAW), over a failure to pay what is understood to be more than £50,000 worth wages owed to players and staff.

The FAW announced last Friday that unless the association's requirements are met by this Saturday the club will be expelled from the league.

But The Cymru North side, currently owned by Domenico Serafino, has appeared on the website BusinessesForSale.com, seemingly available if the seven figure sum is met. A fee that doesn't include the club's home ground which is owned by Bangor City Council.

The advert on the website said: "100 Year Old Welsh Football Club For Sale. Asking price: £1,250,000.

"A club competing in the second tier of Welsh professional football. The champion of this league will make promotion to the first tier, Cymru Premier League.

"The Cymru Premier League consists of 12 teams, the top 3 spots at the end of the season will get a ticket to the European continental tournaments (Champions League, Europa League, Conference League).

"A club with a noteworthy history. Founded well over a century ago. They have had some spells in the international European tournaments..

"Training pitch is located next to the stadium and is made of latest generation synthetic grass."

Both facilities are rented from the city council for an annual fee over a "period of 35 years".
