Newcastle United are set for a busy summer transfer window.

Since the controversial £300 million takeover of the club by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, many a pint has been sunk in Newcastle as fans discuss who the club should spend its new-found fortune on.

Plenty of Magpies were expecting the club to break the bank in January but the owners instead opted to be more selective with their transfers, which in fairness, has paid dividends on the pitch ever since.

Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood, Matt Target and Dan Burn were all brought in for a total of £90 million – and ever since, Newcastle have rocketed up the league going from 19th to 12th.

It really has been an impressive last half of the campaign, however, there can be no denying that there is still a big quality gap to bridge in order to reach the coveted European spots.

So, how can they address that problem? Well, taking a look at some of the players we’ve suggested below and contacting their agents would be a decent start.

Straight in there with an enormous name! But hear us out because this is realistic.

Bale is set to leave Real Madrid when his contract expires on July 1. His agent has said that he wants to find another club that will provide him with regular game time ahead of the World Cup in December (presuming Wales qualify).

Now, his wages prove a sticking point for most clubs but Newcastle could easily muster the funds. The transfer wouldn’t come without its risks given the Welshman’s injury problems, however, we feel it’s a risk worth taking for such a quality player.
