Baker Mayfield: Seahawks have reportedly 'never' been interested in Browns QB

NFL reporter Ian Rapaport has dropped a major bombshell when it comes to Baker Mayfield and his future within the league. 

If you were to look in the dictionary for the definition of the word ‘stuck’, there’s a good chance that you would see a picture of Baker Mayfield staring back at you.

Despite the Cleveland Browns seemingly making it very clear that they were not interested in Mayfield moving forward, best shown by their acquisition of Deshaun Watson this past offseason, despite the looming possible suspension, he still remains part of the Browns organisation. Although that isn’t necessarily for a lack of trying.

Reports have suggested over the past couple of months that the Carolina Panthers have been showing a keen interest in bringing him on board, whilst the Detroit Lions have also been mooted as a possible destination.

However, disagreements over just how much of Mayfield’s salary the Browns and Mayfield’s next team would have to pay have been causing a few problems when it comes to getting him out the door, and as a result, he still finds himself stuck in Cleveland. 

There are a few more teams around the NFL who could still use a quarterback, one such example being the Seattle Seahawks. So far the only options for the Seahawks in terms of a veteran presence are Geno Smith and Drew Lock, who have won a combined 21 NFL games between them, which isn’t a number that screams success moving forward. 

ESPN reporter Josina Anderson claimed that Pete Carroll’s men were even open to giving him a contract extension as they looked to take him on for the long-term as well as the immediate future:
