Bafana midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo makes shock move to Sekhukhune United - report

Bafana Bafana international Kamohelo Mokotjo has shocked the South African footballing community by moving to DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United on a one-and-a-half-year deal, according to iDiski Times.

Mokotjo has been been without a club since November 2021, when he left Major League Soccer (MLS) side FC Cincinnati.

Injuries have not been kind to the 31-year-old as he was linked with a move to Dutch side FC Twente, but despite playing in friendlies, injuries derailed the move and he returned back to South Africa.

He was heavily linked to Kaizer Chiefs in recent weeks but it was reported that Amakhosi opted out of the deal to sign the midfielder. Chiefs are still in desperate need of a replacement for Njabulo Blom, who left for St Louis City in the MLS.

Mokotjo has had quite the journey throughout his career, plying his trade in the Netherlands, in England with Brentford and more recently with Cincinnati in the United States.

He has 23 caps for Bafana Bafana, with the last coming all in 2020 when he was still playing regularly.
