'Back on track!' — Manchester United fans react to boost in Christian Eriksen pursuit

Erik ten Hag wants to upgrade Manchester United's midfield ahead of next season, and for good reason. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick last season, United gave up possession too easily due to poor positioning and lacklustre passing and this can not continue in 2022/23 under the Dutchman.

Many United fans have been crying out for the club to sign a dedicated defensive midfielder for a few seasons now, but it seems like Ten Hag might be thinking differently. Christian Eriksen is available on a free transfer after his contract expired at Brentford and the Manchester Evening News understands United are interested.

It was expected however that the Danish midfielder would rejoin Tottenham Hotspur after the London club registered an interest in the player. However according to recent reports by football.london, Antonio Conte's side have distanced themselves from a move for Eriksen, leaving the door open for United to swoop in.

Many United fans are happy with the possible signing of Eriksen, believing he would be a major upgrade on their current options, however some are still worried given the club's recent track record that the 30-year-old could still choose Brentford over them. They made their thoughts known on Twitter;
