Aymeric Laporte and Phil Foden start — Man City predicted starting line-up vs Manchester United

Manchester City will be going in search of a third successive victory when they welcome cross-city rivals Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

City, who ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over United when the two sides last met at Old Trafford back in November, booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Tuesday evening with a 2-0 triumph over Championship strugglers Peterborough. However, the focus for manager Pep Guardiola and his players now switches back to the Premier League title race.

City could find themselves just three points clear at the top of the table if Liverpool beat West Ham on Saturday evening, so could be under a sense of pressure to reopen their six-point cushion. Having lost their last home game 3-2 to Tottenham Hotspur, Guardiola will be hoping to see his side get back on track at the Etihad — and register their first home win over United since November 2018.

Although changes are guaranteed in defence, Ederson is certain to continue in goal. He has kept 15 clean sheets in 26 Premier League appearances this season and added to his overall tally against Peterborough in midweek in what was his first FA Cup outing of the season.

In defence, however, two changes are guaranteed. City have been rocked by the loss of Ruben Dias, who will be sidelined for up to six weeks with hamstring injury, and Nathan Ake. The duo that started at centre-back in midweek are almost certainly going to be replaced by John Stones and Aymeric Laporte. Kyle Walker is likely to return at right-back, with Joao Cancelo moving back across to the left side of the back-four.
