Avanti train derails LIVE as major incident declared in Shap with all lines blocked
Emergency services have been sent to the scene where a train has derailed in the North of England.
The train derailment happened at around 6.10am this morning (November 3) near Shap in Cumbria. The Avanti West Coast service to London Euston left Glasgow at 4.28am.
North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) has dispatched its crews to the scene. However, there have been no reported injuries.
All lines are blocked between Penrith North Lakes and Oxenholme Lake District, according to Avanti West Coast.

The rail operator is advising customers not to travel north of Preston today (November 3).
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander said a major incident had been declared but that there were no reported injuries.
In a statement on X posted at 7:19am, the ambulance service said: "Following reports of a train derailment near Shap in Cumbria, the trust has dispatched resources to the scene.
"We are currently assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services."
In a follow up post, the trust said: "Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible.
"Updates will be published on this page as we know more."
An Avanti West Coast spokesperson said: “At 06.10hrs today, 3 November, the 0428 Avanti West Coast service from Glasgow to Euston was reported to have derailed at Shap in Cumbria.
“Our priority is the wellbeing of everyone who was board and getting them safely off the train. We are assisting emergency services who are on the scene.
“As a result, all lines are blocked north of Preston. Please do not attempt to travel north of Preston today.
“We’ll provide further information in due course, but it is likely there
