That's interesting.

The Italian was speaking to the physio at the change of ends but did not receive treatment.

To say Berrettini hasn't exactly been at his best early in this one would be fair.

And although he is playing one of he greatest to ever play the game he has been made to work hard to get to this stage of the tournament.

He has been on court for 16 hours so far this tournament and was made to work extremely hard in 5-set matches against Carlos Alcaraz in the 3rd round and  in the quarters against Frenchman Gael Monfils

Is this guy really 35?

Nadal is out there moving like a man in his early 20s.

He's been pushing Berrettini around a bit which must be strange for the Italian, who is usually dominant in the back of the court.

But even when Nadal is being forced to chase the ball, he is all over it. And he just produced a ripping crosscourt forehand that Berrettini could do little with, to hold for a 4-1 lead in the opening set.

The Spaniard, who struggled late in his quarterfinal against Denis Shapovalov with a stomach ailment, seems cured right now.

He has stormed out of the blocks in this one, holding his opening service game then breaking the big serve of Berrettini with ease, before holding for a 3-0 lead.

It's definitely the desired start for him, Berrettini looks a little shell-shocked.
