Australian Open 2022 – how to watch the finals online in the UK

The Australian Open 2022 is reaching its finals, but the first Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year has already been front and centre of headlines around the world as a result of Novak Djokovic's visa saga.

Djokovic's attempt to appeal against the decision to cancel his visa was dismissed on Sunday (January 16), and he then left Australia. The men's singles tournament got underway without the reigning champion.

However, talk quickly turned to the action on court, and while the likes of reigning US Open champion Emma Raducanu, Sir Andy Murray and defending women's singles champion Naomi Osaka may have said a slightly earlier farewell to the tournament than they would have hoped, there's still plenty of interesting stories going into the finals.

Reigning Wimbledon champion and current world number one Ash Barty is the first Australian woman to reach the final since 1980. Ash will play Danielle Collins, who is competing in her first major Grand Slam tennis final.

If he wins the tournament this weekend, he will secure a record-breaking 21st Grand Slam title, putting him ahead of Djokovic and Roger Federer (who was unable to play as he continues his recovery from knee surgery) as the most successful men's player in the Open Era. However, he's only ever won the Australian Open final once before, in 2009.

Rafa will be playing reigning US Open men's singles champion Daniil Medvedev on Sunday (January 30). Here's more on how you can watch the closing days of the tournament.
