Australia Star Gets Hit-Wicket While Slamming A Six, Yet Given Not Out. Here's Why

An extremely bizarre incident was captured during the third women's ODI match between Australia and South Africa on Saturday in Sydney. Australia skipper Alyssa Healy won the toss and opted to bat. The hosts posted a total of 277/9 in 50 overs with Beth Mooney and Healy scoring 82* and 60 runs respectively. For the Proteas, Masabata Klaas was pick of the bowlers as she registered a four-wicket haul. However in the 48th over, an unusual incident took place which left the fans and commentators confused.

In the 48th over, Alana King played a powerful shot off Klaas' full-toss delivery, which went across the boundary rope for a six. While playing the shot, King moved her bat in such a manner that she ended up hitting the stumps.

However, she was not declared hit-wicket out as the height of the delivery was above King's waist and it was given a no-ball. It was a very bizarre incident as a maximum, dismissal, and a no-ball happened on a single delivery.

Talking about the match, Australia lost an early wicket in the form of Phoebe Litchfield but Healy and Mooney brought the hosts back into the game. Apart from them, Tahlia McGrath also played an important knock of 44 runs off 35 balls.

For the visitors, Klaas took four wickets and helped South Africa restrict Australia to 277/9. Apart from her, Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, Eliz-mari Marx, and Marizanne Kapp scalped one wicket each.

The three-match ODI series between Australia and South Africa is currently levelled at 1-1.
