Aurelien Tchouameni makes Man City admission when asked about his future at AS Monaco

Aurelien Tchouameni referenced both Manchester City and Real Madrid when asked to comment on the speculation surrounding his future.

The AS Monaco midfielder has caught the eye of a whole host of European football's biggest clubs with his performances in Ligue 1 this season. A move to the Etihad has been mooted, while cross-city rivals Manchester United have also been strongly linked.

When asked by Le Parisien last week about his future and how a possible move could benefit his international career, the 22-year-old chose to reference the Blues. He explained: "I did not ask myself this question. It is certain that I am not the same player since my arrival in Monaco.

"I passed caps but I worked for a long time to get where I am today. Quite honestly, I'm not focusing on what's next.

"I continue to work and progress and we will see later." Tchouameni then added: "I don't know, maybe it's a discussion I need to have with the coach.

"But, you don't have to be a Real Madrid or Manchester City player to be called up for selection. We see players here who also play for very good clubs like Wissam [Ben Yedder] and me at AS Monaco.

"Today I had a few starts in blue and I'm an AS Monaco player so it's not a question I've asked myself for the moment." Tchouameni was able to celebrate an international achievement on Friday as he scored his first goal for France in a 2-1 victory over the Ivory Coast.
