Audi has bumper ripped off in crash with police car on main road

An Audi was left with a badly damaged bumper following a dramatic crash with a police car in Bury on Monday night (December 23). 

Emergency crews were called to the collision on Bury New Road, at the junction with Higher Lane, in Whitefield. One lane was closed off with multiple other police vehicles attending the scene. 

Traffic police were also called to the collision, arriving on blue lights beside the McDonald's and Aldi car park. A dark-coloured Audi was seen in the middle of the busy junction with part of the front bumper torn off. 

The police car, which was placed on the back of a recovery vehicle, had a huge dent in the passenger side, and the air bags had been activated.

A recovery truck was later seen picking up the two vehicles to tow them away at around 8.15pm on Monday. Officers from Greater Manchester Police were guiding traffic away from the scene, which was building due to the lane closure.

Further details about the crash or any arrests being made have not yet been confirmed. Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for a statement.
