Attempted dumper truck theft thwarted by GMP traffic officers in Littleborough
One arrest was made in Littleborough after the suspected attempted theft of a dumper truck. The dumper was allegedly stolen, along with the trailer used to transport it, by the occupants of a Kia car before the vehicle was intercepted and stung by Greater Manchester traffic police.
The dumper truck and trailer were recovered by officers while a suspect was taken into custody. Greater Manchester Traffic Police worked in conjunction with the force's Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit (TVIU) and Tactical Dog Unit - specifically Police Dog Kyp - to apprehend the suspect.
Greater Manchester Traffic Police recounted the incident on their official Twitter account @gmptraffic in a post during the early hours of this morning. The tweet, which was accompanied by three photographs of the dumper, trailer, Kia and PD Kyp, read: "Occupants of this Kia stole a trailer and Mecalac TA1 dumper from @LancsPolice force area early this morning.
"Intercepted and stung in Littleborough @GMPRochdale by ourselves, TVIU and @GMPDogs, with one detained by PD Kyp. Now en route to custody and stolen property recovered."
