Attack by dog 'bigger than a Shetland pony' leaves girl, 4, scarred for life
A four-year-old girl needed surgery and 40 stitches after an American bulldog-cross ripped a chunk out of her cheek. Luna-Ann Forsyth has been left with significant scars following the horrific attack in April and will need several more operations to repair the damage.
Heartbreakingly, her mum Amy Hobson says her daughter keeps asking: “Is this going to be on my face forever, Mummy?”. Amy, 32, feared Luna-Ann would die as the dog which she described as “probably a bit bigger than a Shetland pony” ripped into her face.
During the attack she had to punch and kick the dog to get it away from Luna-Ann, the Mirror reports. But the family were horrified to hear the dog is still being held in police kennels, with no decision on legal action.

Amy, from Nuneaton, Warks, said: “He’s not been put down. It’s been four months and there’s been no decision, as far as I know. It’s crazy to have these huge dogs. We think it might be an American bulldog mixed with a great Dane, but the tests haven’t been done yet.” Joining the Mirror’s campaign for tougher action on owners and breeders of dangerous dogs, she said: “I want change. The law is failing right now.”
She recalled how her girl was attacked at a friend’s house where they had stopped off on their way home from a shopping trip. The dog was meant to be shut in a bedroom but had got out and joined them in the living room where it attacked Luna-Ann. After fighting it off, Amy scooped up her daughter and stroked her blood-soaked hair off her face to see the wound.
