'At the minute...' - Injury guru now drops big Aston Villa injury claim ahead of Arsenal

Premier League injury expert Ben Dinnery has claimed that Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne will probably not play again before the international break.

During the club’s last game, the left-back had to be substituted off early as the Villans fell to a 2-1 away defeat against West Ham United in the Premier League.

After the game, it became clear that he had suffered a hamstring issue that would have probably left Villa fans feeling rather nervous.

Steven Gerrard has stated that he’s a major doubt for the Arsenal game but the player has heard positive things back from Digne on the injury.

Now, while speaking on the Premier FPL Injuries YouTube show, Dinnery has outlined his understanding of the situation, claiming ‘major’ doubts remain over Digne’s current state.

He said (06:25): “Will he play before the international break? I mean, at this moment, you’ll have to say no.

“Even at the minor end, you know, that grade one [tear], or even if it was just a little bit of tightness, and he came off as a precaution, you would have to question whether Steven Gerrard wants to potentially risk losing Digne for that next game, and potentially exacerbate the problem – especially when he’s got other options in there.

“So, at the minute, I think there’s major question marks whether Dinge will play in game week 30.”

TIF thoughts on Lucas Digne and Aston Villa…

Arsenal will pay a visit to Villa Park next. The Gunners are pushing for top four and so this game could provide quite the test for Steven Gerrard and co.

Even so, as Dinnery suggests, with the international break coming up, it may be most wise to just allow Digne that little bit of extra time to recover away from the pitch – even if that does mean he will have to miss this
