Astonishing Rangers manager warning as devilish Celtic mischief maker claims gig has an expiry date – Hotline
One familiar topic dominated the Hotline in the hours after Scotland’s painful defeat in Spain - referees and VAR. But in a break for our own officials and video tech it was dodgy Dutch ref Serdar Gozubuyuk and his team in the dock after Scott McTominay’s Seville stunner was eventually ruled out for .. well was it a foul or offside? Or was it just wrong?
First up, Henry Moffat, Stirling, said: “Scotland need to take this all the way. I’m not sure what was more disgraceful, the decision or Allan Hutton’s laughable defending of it. They gave it as a foul then saw it was a mistake and changed it not realising in the panic that the ref doesn’t get called to the screen for offside decisions, this is replay material.” Eddie Easson, Ballingry, said: “One thing was proved in the Spain game, small teams do not get VAR. The Dutch referee was shocking from the start. Every big decision went against Scotland. The Spaniards knew this was happening and took full advantage. UEFA’s track record in honesty is well documented.”
Derek Williamson, Johnstone, added: “If McTominay's goal was offside, why was the ref sent to the monitor? Refs are never sent to review offsides, the lines are drawn and Hendry is either offside or not.” Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, said: "It was obvious early in the game that Scotland would never be allowed to win when Carvajal escaped a booking and no foul given for a blatant take out. The officials couldn’t even make up their mind on how to disallow Scotland’s goal but it was obvious they were clutching at straws. Every 50-50 decision went Spain’s way until they were in the lead. The Andy Robertson injury was given as a free-kick to Spain but the keeper seemed to make contact on Robertson with his knee before
