Aston Villa transfer stance on mega deal Manchester United and Tottenham also want

Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma is 'unlikely' to sign for Aston Villa today, according to reports.

Villa have just a matter of hours left to complete their January transfer business after already bringing in the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Digne, Robin Olsen, Calum Chambers and Kerr Smith to the club this month.

It has been widely reported that Villa are in the market for a midfielder and Bissouma is a long-term target, while Rodrigo Bentancur is set to move to Tottenham Hotspur and Marseille's Boubacar Kamara is unlikely to make the switch to the Premier League before this evening's deadline.

Villa have already tried and failed to sign Bissouma earlier this month as per reports which suggested a £25million bid was rejected by Brighton for their Mali international midfielder.

He will enter the final 12 months of his contract at Brighton at the end of the season and Villa could make a fresh move for him in the summer.

Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has given an update on Villa's pursuit of the midfielder.

"In terms of ins, Villa still like Yves Bissouma from Brighton," he said.

"They want that extra cover in defensive midfield, but I am told that the price is too high that Villa have been quoted so far.

"There has been no official bid because the numbers they have been told are so high.

"There is also reported interested from Manchester United and Spurs for Bissouma, but I am told that Villa are fairly relaxed about that and they may well revisit a deal for Bissouma in the summer when he has just one year left on his contract.

"I am also told that some of the agents fees and add ons have put Villa off at this stage as well, so there’s a lot of work to be done on that. It is unlikely to happen today."
