Aston Villa starlet compared to Yaya Toure and Zidane tipped for England call-up

Aston Villa youngster Jacob Ramsey has been compared to Yaya Toure and Zinedine Zidane by former England international Jermaine Jenas.

The ex- Villa midfielder has heaped praise on the 20-year-old for his impressive displays this season, which continued as he netted his sixth goal of the Premier League campaign in the 2-1 defat to West Ham.

Ramsey has even been tipped to make the England squad for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, as reports claim Gareth Southgate is keeping a close eye on the youngster.

“My favourite youngster right now is Jacob Ramsey," Jenas said.

"I love this kid so much, he has this flow to his game where he glides past people, that’s what Zidane used to do.

"Then when he’s driving with his mentality, that’s what Yaya Toure used to do. He’s very composed in deep areas on the ball, he’s got so many facets of different players that I look at in his game and I think I’m not seeing much wrong with this player.

"He’s my tip to make Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup."

Ramsey has enjoyed a stellar season at Villa, under firstly Dean Smith and now Steven Gerrard, who looks to have taken his game on another level.

The Villa boss said last month: "I know the level of the England players, I've been around it, and have enough experience to know it's only a matter of time but let's all be sensible and keep calm about it,' he said, as Villa missed out on a place in the Premier League's top 10.

"I want him to make his own headlines with his football. He is a top talent, I'm loving every moment of working with him. He is getting stronger with each game because we're giving him the platform to express himself. He is in a wonderful place.
