Aston Villa readying ‘bumper’ Boubacar Kamara deal despite warning signs from Prem rivals

Aston Villa are plotting a move for free agent-to-be Boubacar Kamara despite several Premier League rivals backing away from a move, per a report.

Villa have been continuously linked with defensive-midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window with Kamara’s name consistently popping up.

The 22-year-old is available on a free transfer this summer and is younger than the players Villa have been previously linked with.

The likes of Kalvin Phillips, Yves Bissouma and Axel Witsel have all been mentioned as targets for Steven Gerrard’s team this summer, with Kamara seemingly now coming out on top.

This is due to a report from journalist Alan Nixon. Via the Birmingham Mail, he stated that a supposed ‘bumper deal’ is in the making within the Villa camp.

The defensive-midfield spot is one of the weakest among Gerrard’s team. Marvelous Nakamba and Douglas Luiz are the only two to be able to fill in effectively.

The former has, however, been injured for a large portion of the season. This has meant that the responsibility has mainly fallen on Luiz’s shoulders.

There have, however, been rumours circling that Luiz may be on the verge of exiting Villa park this summer.

If he does leave, the Villans will require an immediate replacement for the upcoming season.

Kamara has had a stellar season for Marseille this year, averaging a rating of 6.84 in all competitions, according to WhoScored.

This has led to many destinations being discussed as the 22-year-old’s next destination. Indeed, the likes of Man Utd, Leeds and Newcastle have all been credited with interest.

The report has stated, however, that many of the previously discussed destinations have ‘backed off’ due to Kamara’s high wage demands.

Yet this doesn’t seem to be a problem
