Aston Villa: NSWE 'ambition' could now tempt 'genius' to Villa Park

Aston Villa’s ambition as a club could be enough to tempt former Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino to Villa Park in the future, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Steven Gerrard was handed more than £60 million to bolster his squad in the summer transfer window but his future in the West Midlands is now in doubt.

The Argentinian was sacked from his role at the Parc des Princes in July after 18 months in charge and was replaced by Christophe Galtier.

But the 50-year-old, who has previously been described as a ‘genius’, may not be out of work for long as, according to Football Insider, Villa have previously considered him as a replacement for Gerrard.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “They lured Gerrard away from Rangers in the first instance to show their ambition so there’s no doubt that Villa are an ambitious club. That’s something that definitely would come into Pochettino’s mind if he was to maybe move to Villa
