Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham in 'intense' battle for huge deadline day transfer

Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham are fighting it out to complete a deadline day move for Brighton's Yves Bissouma amid claims he could leave before the deadline.

Villa have been linked with the midfielder for most of the window and have swerved a move for Juventus' Rodrigo Bentancur who is now destined for Spurs.

But the deal fans would love to see them complete is a move for Bissouma who is regarded as one of the most underrated talents in the Premier League.

And according to French football journalist Fabrice Hawkins, talks are taking place as the Seagulls battle to keep hold of their prized asset.

"Yves Bissouma could leave Brighton," he wrote on Twitter.

"Three clubs are trying to sign him: Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester United. The discussions are intense. Brighton are asking for at least 45 million euros."

Bissouma has been in fine form over the past 18 months and has attracted serious interest from a whole host of Premier League clubs since joining the English top-flight from Lille back in July 2018.

Bissouma was even the subject of a £25million bid from Villa earlier this January, according to the Telegraph, who claim the Seagulls swiftly rejected the approach.

It is understood an offer closer to £50million will be considered by the south coast club even if the 25-year-old will enter the final 12 months of his contract in the summer.

But former Liverpool winger John Barnes, who won three league titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup during 10 ten years at Anfield, is adamant Bissouma will fit in perfectly under Jurgen Klopp as opposed to any other club vying for his signature.
