Alfredo Morelos on his Steven Gerrard post Rangers pleasantries as dream destination remains the same

Alfredo Morelos have revealed he has remained in contact with former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard as he opened up on his Ibrox future.

The Colombian has enjoyed an upturn in form under Gio van Bronckhorst since his arrival as he gears up for the title run-in.

The striker, who has netted 18 goals in 37 appearances this term, concedes he has ambitions of moving to the English Premier League in the future.

And he admits he still chats to Aston Villa boss Gerrard since he left the the Premiership champions - but attention hasn't turned to any transfer talks.

Morelos, in an interview in his homeland's Caracol radio station, said: "I am very content at Rangers and we are doing well.

"I am scoring goals and feel I am contributing to the team. It would be nice to win another title with Rangers and I think we are close to doing that, but we need to keep going until the end of the season.

"We will see what happens and what God decides.

"Scottish football is very similar to the English Premier League. I would imagine we get watched by clubs there and of course, we are doing well in the Europa League so we get a lot of exposure.

"It would be nice to play there because it is one of my favourite leagues.

"Our ex-manager Steven Gerrard went to the Premier League. I have spoken to him since, just the usual greetings and things. We've not had any further conversations."

The Colombia cap also insists he won't give up on his international future after call-up disappointment last time around.

Morelos missed Rangers' defeat at Celtic because he was included in Colombia's squad for their World Cup qualifying defeats against Peru and Argentina - but wasn't named in either squad.
