Aston Villa fans are all making the same point after shock Manchester United defeat

Aston Villa fans have waded in on the handball row that engulfed Middlesbrough's shock FA Cup fourth round win at Old Trafford on Friday night.

Boro came from behind after Jadon Sancho's first-half goal to equalise thanks to a controversial goal from Matt Crooks.

Crooks turned home at the back post after Duncan Watmore handled the ball in the process of setting up his team-mate.

It was a clear handball and United's players were convinced the goal would not be given but it transpired a rule change at the start of the season made an allowance for accidental handball in the build-up to a goal if it is by another player.

Whether Watmore's handling of the ball was accidental is up for debate but referee Anthony Taylor and Video Assistant Referee Stuart Attwell did think it was.

And United getting dumped out of the FA Cup a round after they beat Villa in controversial circumstances has set fans off.

Steven Gerrard 's Villa had two goals disallowed in their 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford, one taking more than three minutes for VAR to chalk off.

"The footballing gods level it up," one Villa fan said while another added: "For all Villa fans that is a beautiful case of 'revenge is a dish best served cold'. Fabulous justice."

"Villa should have beaten them but at least Middlesbrough have, it is justice at last," a third Villa supporter said.
