Ashford United goalkeeper Roshan Greensall set for European move after Jordan Gillmore arrives from Dover Athletic
Goalkeeper Roshan Greensall is set to play abroad after Ashford United signed a new No.1.
The Nuts & Bolts brought in Jordan Gillmore from Dover Athletic at the end of last week.
It means Greensall, who moved to Homelands midway through last season after a spell at Faversham, will be plying his trade elsewhere.
And he’s ready to try something new with opportunities on the table in Europe.
“Roshan’s had a couple of offers from Austria and Spain that he’s going to pursue,” said Ashford manager Craig Stone.
“So in terms of timing, with me finding another keeper and Roshan finding himself with the chance to play abroad, it’s worked out. I wish him all the best because he’s been brilliant for us and he’s a really great lad.
“As a human being and a person, I couldn’t respect him more, and I’m pleased for him that he’s going to do something different.
“He’s been doing some work in Thailand, and he travels a lot anyway, so it’s a great opportunity for him to play abroad and experience football in a different environment. It’s the best of both worlds.
“I had a couple of opportunities when I was younger, in Ireland and Scotland, that I never took, and you see a few things in America that never quite came off.
“Roshan’s got a great opportunity to experience a different way of life and play football in a different country.
“We’ll now move on with Jordan Gillmore and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Stone previously worked with Gillmore during his days as Gillingham under-18s manager, with the goalkeeper arriving on loan from Millwall.
He kept an eye on the 23-year-old, who impressed as understudy to Mitch Walker at Dover, and is delighted to bring him to Ashford.
“I spoke to Jake (Leberl, Dover boss) and Mike Sandmann
