Asda offering whopping winter discount to shoppers over certain age at 205 UK stores

Asda shoppers over a certain age can continue to get a huge discount at 205 UK stores until February next year.

The supermarket has brought back its 'Winter Warmer' offer, which lets all customers over the age of 60 purchase a warm bowl of soup, a bread roll and unlimited tea or coffee all for just £1. The offer is available at the 205 Asda stores with a cafe across the UK.

Shoppers who want to take advantage of the offer can choose from three types of soup - tomato, chicken or vegetable. The offer will be available until the end of February.

The supermarket said it brought back the annual off for people over 60 as they face "increased financial pressures during the colder winter months". In the first two weeks of the offer launching, over 60,000 meals were served, according to the retailer.

Asda first launched the offer in November 2022 for two months in a bid to support older customers during the cost of living crisis. The initiative saw over 1.2 million soup meals served and the retailer has now brought back the deal until February 28.

The offer is available all day, every day and will run alongside another offer that lets kids eat for just £1 too.

Ian McEvans, Asda’s commercial vice president for fresh and frozen, said: "We know winter is set to be incredibly hard for thousands of pensioners as they continue to worry about how to keep themselves warm in the face of rising living costs and on a fixed income.

"We’ve already served 60,000 meals to the over 60’s in the first two weeks, and since its launch 1.2 million meals have been sold showing the vital need for this initiative. By bringing Winter Warmers back for 2024 and extending it until February we hope it will prove just as impactful across the winter
