Newcastle United are now competing for the transfer of West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen as one of three potential attacking recruits, a report has revealed.

Jarrod Bowen is enjoying his best ever Premier League season with West Ham. So far in the 2021-22 campaign, he has scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists from 41 appearances across all competitions.

The winger is on the verge of a major breakthrough at international level with England. But by the time the national team is next in action, plenty should have been said about Bowen’s club future.

Regularly linked with Liverpool, Bowen has now become a target for Newcastle United, according to the latest from 90min.

Newcastle – whose manager Eddie Howe is a long-term admirer and has club scouts in agreement – have identified him as someone who can improve their attack for the next few seasons. They are aiming to evolve in the final third with one more centre-forward and two new wingers.

Bowen fits the latter category, and has proven himself to be a capable goal-getter from that territory. His potential arrival at St James’ Park would ease the burden on Allan Saint-Maximin – or even represent a succession plan after reports that the Frenchman could be sacrificed.
