As Jay Slater's family desperately wait, Parc de Teno is once again a magnet for tourists trying to take the perfect photo

The sun glows above the mountainous terrain of north west Tenerife. Gusty winds rustle the trees that line the Rural Parc de Teno, near the village of Masca.

Weeks ago, this was a hub of emergency services activity. Local police and rescue teams camped out against the stunning backdrop as the search for Jay Slater began.

Now those scenes have changed. Spanish police called off the official search for Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, on June 30, 13 after he disappeared. His last known location was the Rural Parc de Teno.

But the vast ravines surrounding the dusty, winding road that snakes through this corner of the Canary Island appear different now. Members of Jay's family are still in Tenerife and keep returning to the area.

Yet this beauty spot is now a magnet for tourists and locals trying to take the perfect photo, against the imposing Cruz de Hilda landmark. Couples, families and friends - visitors from across the globe - all stopped to take in the surroundings.

For now, Jay's family and the local police are keeping hope for the Lancashire lad. On July 9, the Guardia Civil confirmed several lines of inquiry were still being pursued.

Jay's dad Warren, who remains in Tenerife along with his older brother Zak and mum Debbie, have already made repeated calls for British authorities to help. Amid the media noise, Warren and Zak have been seen regularly visiting the area where Jay was last seen, conducting their own searches with the help of a small team.
