'As it stands' - Sky Sports journalist drops Aarons & Cantwell transfer update at Norwich

Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has provided an update on the transfer plans of Norwich City and their manager Dean Smith.

Despite getting off to something of a rough start this season and undergoing a change of manager, the Canaries have given themselves a decent chance of staying in the Premier League under Smith, as they currently sit just above the relegation zone, although some teams around them do have games in hand.

Cantwell currently ranks fifth in the side when it comes to pass completion percentage and leads the team in through-balls per game, whilst also ranking 6th in terms of tackles per game. Meanwhile, Aarons ranks in the top five for tackles, blocks and dribbles per game (all stats via WhoScored).

Speaking on Sky Sports News’ The Transfer Show during a quickfire segment in which he and colleague Kaveh Solhekol covered all Premier League clubs, Sheth explained what the plans were for Cantwell and Aarons before the window closes next Monday.

He said: “As it stands, Norwich manager Dean Smith is planning for Todd Cantwell and Max Aarons to stay put in this window – Cantwell, though, wasn’t in the 20-man squad at Watford on Friday.”
