Arsenal will make new attempt to sign 'spectacular' £63m star

Arsenal are ‘going to revisit the situation’ of Inter striker Lautaro Martinez in the summer transfer window, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Gunners are believed to be in the market for a new striker ahead of next season as manager Mikel Arteta aims to add some much-needed goal threat to his depleted forward line.

Arteta made the bold decision to allow former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to join Barcelona on a free transfer in January following a disciplinary breach.

That left Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as the only senior striker options in Arsenal’s first-team squad, but the pair are both set to leave the Emirates Stadium on free transfers when their contracts expire in a few months’ time.

And according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the north London outfit have spoken to Martinez’s representatives with the player facing an uncertain future.

It’s claimed that the Argentina international could be allowed to depart San Siro if Inter manage to sign Paulo Dybala on a free transfer from domestic rivals Juventus once his existing deal ends.

Martinez was first linked with Arsenal last summer before putting pen to paper on fresh terms until 2026 in October, yet it’s believed Simeone Inzaghi’s charges would be willing to sanction the exit of their prized asset for around £58 million.

Arsenal are far from the only side to be linked with Martinez, though, and Jones has revealed Tottenham Hotspur are also eager to snap up the services of the 24-year-old, who ‘really fancies playing in the Premier League’.
