Arsenal will ‘keep tabs’ on 23-cap ‘exciting prospect’ at Emirates
Arsenal will ‘keep tabs on’ in-demand Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.
The 20-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Amex Stadium in recent weeks despite his limited game time in the Premier League thanks to his incredible potential.
A recent report in the Sunday Mirror (via The Express) claimed that Arsenal are one of several sides contemplating a move for Caicedo as they look to bolster their engine room options.
However, the Gunners could face competition from the likes of Manchester United, West Ham, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus, who are also listed amongst his potential suitors.
Caicedo has only made 13 appearances for Brighton so far yet has replaced Yves Bissouma in their midfield seamlessly at the start of the current campaign.
As per WhoScored, the 23-cap Ecuador international has averaged more tackles (3.7) and more interceptions (1.7) per Premier League game than any of his teammates this season, highlighting his importance to the Seagulls.
With Caicedo still having three years left to run on his contract with Brighton, though, any deal will surely be difficult to pull off this summer, especially with deadline day fast approaching.
Brown believes that Caicedo is an ‘exciting prospect’ but also reckons that a switch to the Emirates Stadium ‘might be a little early for him’ at this stage in his career.
In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “He’s gone there, you wouldn’t say he’s pulled up any trees really so far, but he is an exciting prospect.
“And I’m sure he’s someone that Arsenal will keep tabs on, but I think for this window, it might be a little early for him.”
