Arsenal 'try out Gabriel Martinelli as No 9 in training'
Gabriel Martinelli has reportedly been honing the number nine position in training with Arsenal.
The Brazilian forward has been enjoying his best season since joining the Gunners, scoring four Premier League goals in 11 starts, even though he had a disappointing last outing as he was sent off in the win at Wolves for picking up two bookings in the space of five seconds.
He has been excelling as a wide forward, cutting in from the left hand side as Gunners' icon Thierry Henry used to.
The Brazilian has even expressed a desire to wear Henry's famous No 14 shirt, which is currently out of use.
But he may soon be being deployed as a number nine by Mikel Arteta.
According to a report by Football London, Martinelli has been playing as a centre-forward in training.
Arsenal have been playing Alexandre Lacazette as centre forward but the French striker is expected to leave the club in the summer, leaving the position vacant.
