Arsenal transfer round-up: Gakpo 'inspired' by Wijnaldum and Barcelona trying for Raphinha

Arsenal have been one of the busiest Premier League clubs in the transfer window to date but Mikel Arteta is keen to further strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

The Gunners are closing in on a move for Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City after confirming the arrivals of Marquinhos, Fabio Viera and Matt Turner. Meanwhile, the Gunners are reportedly 'monitoring' Serge Gnabry’s contract situation at Bayern Munich ahead of a potential return to north London and Cody Gakpo is 'inspired' by Georginio Wijnaldum's route into English football.

takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium…

Arsenal could look to sign PSV winger Cody Gakpo as an alternative to Raphinha. Football.london reported earlier this year that the Gunners were interested in the 22-year-old who scored 18 goals and registered 15 assists in 42 games across all competitions for the Dutch outfit last season.

Arteta is an admirer of the Dutch forward and Arsenal could make a move for Gakpo should Raphinha move elsewhere, with Chelsea and Barcelona in talks to sign the 25-year-old. However, Gakpo is said to be inspired by the route former PSV midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum took when he joined Liverpool via a spell at Newcastle United in 2015-16, suggesting he could sign for Leeds United, who are interested in the player.
