Arsenal transfer news: Cody Gakpo tipped to make £42m Gunners switch despite Bayern Munich interest

Rumoured Arsenal target Cody Gakpo has been advised to strongly consider a move to Emirates Stadium - despite rival interest from Bayern Munich.

Reports suggest a £42million transfer is on the horizon for the PSV Eindhoven forward, who has racked up 16 goals and 15 assists this season. Barcelona and Liverpool are also said to be keen.

But Kenneth Perez, former PSV player and Eredivisie veteran-turned-pundit believes Arsenal would be an ideal destination.

The ex-winger stated on ESPN: “[Arsenal] would be a really good club for him. This is of course no longer the Arsenal of the past - they are between fifth and tenth place.

“They are still not there, but you just can’t look at league standings. Last year they finished tenth. If they have a good year, they will finish fourth.”

Arsenal are thought to be in the market for an attacker this summer and Gakpo has been told by PSV legend Willy van de Kerkhof that he has outgrown his current club.

The European Cup winner told Voetbal Primeur: “Gakpo has hit the ceiling at PSV.

“I think Gakpo can certainly succeed in England, but I also find Bayern a good club for him. He thinks so too, I think.

“[His price] is very simple: €50m. He is definitely worth it.”
