Mohamed Elneny seems to be on the verge of signing a new Arsenal contract after news of his extension has been 'leaked.'
It seemed a foregone conclusion that the 29-year-old would leave the Emirates in the summer with his current deal expiring after being on the fringes of Mikel Arteta's side this season due to the arrivals of Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard. The Egyptian has only played in 11 Premier League games, but crucially he has started the last four, all ending in victories for the Gunners.
Elneny has shown his value to the north Londoners by stepping in for the injured Partey at the business end of the season. Wins against Chelsea, Manchester United, West Ham and Leeds have put Arsenal in pole position to seal a top-four finish with three games left of the campaign.
There have been rumours that Elneny could be rewarded with a new deal, as a result, and that appears to be the case with news of an agreement leaked on social media.
Egyptian sports outlet FilGoal reports that a member of the Egypt national team staff published a tweet congratulating the midfielder on his new contract at the Emirates, before swiftly deleting it. A Reddit user then shared the post along with the caption: "A member of Egypt technical team congratulates El Neny on signing his new Arsenal deal."
