Arsenal set to confirm USA pre-season tour and give update on Emirates Cup and rest of schedule

Arsenal will head to the USA as part of their pre-season preparations understands. The Gunners were due to travel to the States last season to take part in the Florida Cup where they were scheduled to play Everton and then one of Inter Milan and Colombian side Millonarios F.C., but were forced to cancel due to a COVID outbreak in the squad.

They now intend to head back to Miami for their pre-season campaign this time around, where it is expected that they will take on Chelsea and Orlando City. That is not the only game they will play in America, with a fixture against Everton also in the works to take place somewhere along the east coast.

Prior to the trip across the Atlantic, Mikel Arteta's side are also expected to play a fixture in Europe, with Germany among the destinations being considered, and at least one more game behind closed doors. Players are expected back at training in mid-June, with the trip to America likely to happen in mid-July.

There is also expected to be a return for the Emirates Cup, although this will happen across one day. The Gunners are expected to confirm these plans next week, with full dates and kick-off times to come then.

Pre-season preparations are going to have to start slightly earlier this season due to the fact that the campaign is set to be split up by the World Cup in Qatar that takes place between November and December. The 2022/23 season will begin on the August 6 and is set to resume after the World Cup on Boxing Day, before finishing on the May 28 2023.
