Arsenal sent Aston Villa transfer message as Jacob Ramsey shines again

Jacob Ramsey is lighting up the Premier League with his impressive performances for Aston Villa.

The exciting midfielder continued his excellent form under Steven Gerrard with two well-taken goals in the thrilling 3-3 draw with Leeds United at Villa Park.

There are now calls for Ramsey to be called up to the England senior squad by Gareth Southgate.

Other clubs are also casting envious eyes in Villa’s direction as the 20-year-old continues to blossom.

Arsenal will be in the market for midfielders this summer and Gunners legend Michael Thomas has admitted he would love to see Ramsey at the Emirates.

“One player I have been really impressed with is Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa,” Thomas told caughtoffside.com.

“I think he has at least another year there [Ramsey signed a new contract last year, tying him to Villa until 2025], but would love to see him join Arsenal.”

Thomas also said he would like Arsenal to move for Brighton’s Yves Bissouma – a target of Villa’s – instead of Juventus’s Arthur Melo, who almost joined the Gunners in January.

“I wasn’t convinced about Arthur coming to Arsenal,” said Thomas.

“I see him as a really good ball player, but he doesn’t possess the physical attributes to get around the pitch to complement that ability.

“I would have much rather seen us go in for Yves Bissouma or Renato Sanches [of Lille]. Those are two players with amazing engines and can definitely play at the highest level.”
