Arsenal's Ben White deliberately tripped Jaidon Anthony in front of referee
Arsenal made it three wins from three against Bournemouth on Saturday evening.
After defeating Crystal Palace and Leicester City in their first two Premier League fixtures, the Gunners travelled to the south coast and picked up a comprehensive 3-0 victory.
A first half brace from club captain Martin Odegaard and a sensational strike from William Saliba secured the three points.
It was a fairly dominant display from Arsenal, with Bournemouth mustering just one shot on target throughout the 90 minutes of play.
Mikel Arteta’s side have looked very solid in defence so far in 2022/23 and much of that has been down to Ben White, who has performed brilliantly at right-back in all three matches.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is match fit again, but the Japan international will not be getting his place in the starting XI back anytime soon at this rate.
White barely put a foot wrong in his commanding display against Bournemouth, although he was quite fortunate to escape a yellow card at the start of the second half.
After Arsenal were awarded a free-kick for a foul on Bukayo Saka, the former Brighton man decided to deliberately trip up a complaining Jaidon Anthony right under the nose of the referee.
In truth, it was very, very funny and White’s cheeky smile after nearly sending the Bournemouth forward tumbling to the turf only added to the hilarity of the incident.
But the referee probably should have been a spoilt sport and booked White, as you can’t really go around tripping people up on a football pitch…
