Arsenal receive Marseille 'approach' as Mason Greenwood Man United transfer row erupts
Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah has reportedly been approached by Marseille following a transfer dispute in the French city over the potential signing of Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood.
MEN Sport reported on Wednesday morning that United had accepted a bid of around £27m from Marseille for Greenwood. The Ligue 1 club's interest in the 22-year-old has been well documented in recent weeks with Marseille trumping Lazio to the deal.
However on Tuesday, Marseille's mayor Benoit Payan strongly criticised the move. Speaking to RMC, he expressed his disapproval of Greenwood joining Roberto De Zerbi's team, stating that he did not want his club 'covered in shame' and deeming it 'unacceptable'.

Greenwood has not played for United since January 2022 when he was suspended by the club following his arrest for attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The case against Greenwood was discontinued when the Crown Prosecution Service withdrew all charges just over a year later.
Last season, the winger spent the campaign on loan at Getafe where he scored ten goals in 36 appearances. He returned to Carrington alongside his father on Monday where he was informed that a transfer was being arranged for him this summer
Foot Mercato now reports that Marseille are not done with their striker additions as Nketiah is now being considered alongside United's winger. The club has already had 'positive exchanges' with the Arsenal star's representatives and the Gunners are willing to let the player go this summer.
