Arsenal offering 'six-figure salary' to striker at the Emirates

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah is set to receive a six-figure weekly salary to stay at the club beyond this summer, claims talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Nketiah’s future has been in doubt for some time, but it now looks like he will be remaining at the Emirates Stadium.

The 23-year-old rejected a contract extension at Arsenal back in December. At that stage, it looked like he was destined to move on from his boyhood club this summer when his contract expired as he failed to make a single league start before Christmas.

However, he came into the starting XI in the final weeks of the season and bagged braces against Chelsea and Leeds.

His performances appear to have convinced Mikel Arteta that he should keep hold of Nketiah, and The Athletic reported at the end of last month that the forward is now set to stay at Arsenal.

Crook has claimed that Nketiah will be paid at least £100,000-a-week at Arsenal moving forward, and he has questioned whether the youngster deserves such a lucrative pay packet.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Crook said: “Nketiah is an interesting one, because I was told the other day that he’s been given a six-figure salary to sign his new contract, and that seems a lot of money to me for him.”

Arsenal have been linked with a host of strikers as they look to replace Alexandre Lacazette this summer.

The Athletic has claimed that Gabriel Jesus is their No. 1 target, but they have also stated that the Gunners are monitoring the likes of Victor Osimhen, Gianluca Scamacca and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Whoever they bring in is unlikely to be happy to play second fiddle to Nketiah, and this suggests that the attacker may only be considered a back-up
