Arsenal move for £120k-a-week star now 'one to watch' at the Emirates

Arsenal could be forced into action and make a late move to bring Leicester City star Youri Tielemans to the Emirates Stadium if another suitor lodges a bid, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The Gunners have made a stunning start to the season, winning their opening four matches, but boss Mikel Arteta may look to bolster his squad ahead of Thursday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

It is understood that Arsenal are long-term admirers of Tielemans and have been holding internal discussions over his availability since January.

The central midfielder’s £120,000-per-week Leicester contract is scheduled to expire next summer, resulting in major doubts over where his long-term future lies.

The Foxes could reportedly drop their price tag for Tielemans to as little as £17million ahead of the transfer window slamming shut as they do not want to risk him walking away from the King Power Stadium as a free agent at the end of the season.

That may play into Arsenal’s hands, but they are not the only Premier League club mulling over whether to table a bid for the 52-cap Belgium international.

Jacobs has hinted that Liverpool could make a move for Tielemans, while Manchester United have also been linked with the Leicester man.

Jacobs believes Arsenal will enter negotiations for Tielemans if another admirer strengthens their interest ahead of the transfer deadline.

The journalist feels the Gunners’ pursuit of the Belgian is worth keeping an eye on despite the fact they are yet to make a formal bid.
