Arsenal in 'pole position' to sign Gabriel Jesus as agent set for meeting with Juventus

Arsenal transfer target Gabriel Jesus' agent is reportedly meeting with Juventus this week as the Brazilian seeks a move away from Manchester City.

Jesus is a top transfer target this summer for Arsenal as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options. The Gunners currently have just one senior striker at the club following the departures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this year.

understands that the Brazilian international is a priority target for the Gunners this summer, and technical director Edu has held talks with the player's representatives in recent months. The likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid have been linked with the 25-year-old, and according to Calciomercato, it looks as though Jesus' agent will meet with Serie A giants Juventus this week.

The Italian news outlet claim Arsenal remain in 'pole position' to sign Jesus this summer, despite the Brazilian's agent meeting with Juve this week. The arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez mean the 25-year-old would be short of first-team opportunities at the Etihad next season.

Jesus refused to agree to a new deal at City, leading to a queue of Europe's top clubs fighting for the Brazil international's signature this summer. With just a year remaining on Jesus' current deal, the Brazilian would be available for a cut-price fee, although City still demands around £40million.

There is still no agreement between Arsenal and Jesus' representatives, with the Brazilian weighing up his options this summer. Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri reportedly wants Jesus to form an attacking trio of Federico Chiesa and former Gunners' transfer target Dusan Vlahovic who opted to sign for the Old Lady ahead of Mikel Arteta's side in January.
